Permian Basin Chapter: Cyber Threat Awareness Luncheon
Please join WEN-Permian Basin for our first luncheon of the year to learn about Cyber Security from our speaker Mike McMullen, Director, Global Information Security & Digital Forensics at Anadarko. Attendees will be exposed to cybersecurity threats targeting Oil and Gas and other Industries in the United States, data breaches and fraud, and tips to protect corporate and personal information and computers.


The event is from 11:30 to 1 on Wednesday, February 20th at the Petroleum Club of Midland.

Speaker Bio:

Mike McMullen, CISSP, is a US Army Veteran and Information Security Professional with over forty years of government and private industry service

Mike’s career spans time served at the US Army Security Agency base in Thailand, Alaska and as a Senior Instructor at the US Army Signal Intelligence Training Center, Georgia.

Following honorable discharge in 1981, Mike joined ranks at the Johnson Space Center and served as a Field Engineer in Mission Control as NASA’s Communications Security Officer for the Shuttle Program Office. In 1997, Mike shifted to the private sector to serve as Information Security Manager for American General Corporation, Enron Energy Services and privately held security consulting firm A.S.K Communications in The Woodlands, Texas.

In March 2001 Mike joined Anadarko Petroleum Corporation and currently serves as Global Information Security Director in Anadarko’s Corporate Security Department. Mike’s Team conducts preservation and analysis of digital evidence supporting Company internal investigations and legal holds; monitors systems for user policy compliance and electronic threats against Anadarko’s personnel, facilities and network; responds to cyber incidents and supports cyber-threat analysis.

Additional responsibilities include security policy and procedures development, support to GDPR compliance and privacy initiatives; and administers the company’s internal CyberSecurity awareness program.

Mike is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), past President and Board Member of the South Texas ISSA Chapter, actively involved in the American Petroleum Institute IT Security Subcommittee, and supports various Department of Homeland Security, FBI and private sector CyberSecurity working groups.

Mike believes the key to a successful cyber defense program resides within the people who are actively engaged and aware of cyber threats.
